Moving from behind the camera to in front of audiences,
Jo Streit uses her real life experiences as a documentary filmmaker
to expose the erosion of American democracy and demonstrate the
power of citizen activism. Showing video clips from her film FLIRTING
WITH POWER, a revealing behind-the-scenes look at the Perot presidential
campaigns, she infuses the dialogue about political and media reform
with humor and insight. Enjoying the debate of ideas, she inspires
the audience to actively participate in the discussion and to resist
the complacency that spawns voter apathy and reduces our democracy
into a spectator sport. Despite the Reform Party's split during
the 2000 National Convention, Streit was a keynote speaker at both
conventions.
